Genre 1 - Brochure
I chose to do a brochure because they not only have pictures on them but, also a lot of information. Many times students or even parents will see a picture that interests them with little detail. A brochure can really map out all the information and answer many questions that audience has. Brochures have different sections which I think draws the attention of the people reading it. They also cover more than one subject area because of those different sections. One section may cover one topic but, still leaves the audience with questions. Instead of that question going unanswered, in another section in the brochure the previous question can be answered. My brochure is directed too students, I did this to try and give the students of BU information about why it is important to our education and student body to be culturally diverse. I also made a section including four ways to achieve cultural diversity. I did this to give people insight and a guideline on how to achieve cultural diversity. I also did this so that anyone who may feel intimidated or out of their comfort zone would have something to guide them as well.
While making my brochure, I included the CRAP principles. I incorporated these principles by using color that went together. I used a orange and a pink color. I thought those colors were friends and inviting. I used proximity by aligning my picture up with the information I had below it. Also by having different sections but, making sure they were all aligned and making sure the corresponding information was as well.
I chose this example because I like how everything is set up. I also like how there are picture and then information to go along with the picture. The colors really go nice and there isn't to much going on. I like how there are different sections to it and each section has different information. Each caption for each area is just big enough to catch the readers eye. I really liked this brochure and the use of the different sections.
I like this brochure because of the pictures. The one things that I do not like to much is that there is not a lot of information but, I like the use of the picture. The picture really depict what they brochure is supposed to be about and I think that is very important. In my personal brochure I will include picture to depict what I am trying to get across but, I will also have more information.
I like how the picture is the background of this brochure. Right off the bat that picture crabs your attention and gives you some insight on what the subject of the brochure is about. The one thing that I do not like is the big blue sections. The writing seems to very small and the white writing on the light blue contras I don't feel works well together. In my brochure I want to make sure the colors go together but, also have big picture so the audience has a sense of what the brochure will be about.
Genre 2 - Flyer
For my second genre I chose to do a Flyer. I chose do this because flyers are attention grabbers. They have big words and big pictures that captures students eyes. My flyer is directed to the student body of Bloomsburg University. I chose a picture that I thought would mean something or at least make the students thing about how each student has different qualities and different things that each of us do but, we are still the same. Also I my flyer I put a quote that I thought would really make the students think about life and each other. I used the CRAP principles by using maroon and gold which are the BU colors. They worked really well together. I centered a picture and then centered a quote underneath it. At the bottom I put a little snippet of information for the audience as well.
Example 1
diversity.jpg
This is the type of flyer that I would personally want people to see. I really like how it has a bunch of people of different skin colors holding hands. I also like how in a big font it says diversity. Then underneath in a different font it says "The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are". I like this because it is telling people it is ok to be who you are and that is something I would want to stress to people of a different race or culture. I think this flyer has a powerful meaning behind it and I would want to make something similar to this for one of my projects.
Example 2
diversity 2.jpg
I also really liked this flyer, it has repetition on it which we spoke about in class. It has each person in the same shaped body but they are all different types of people of different races, cultures and ethnicities. I also like the big font on the bottom that says celebrate diversity. Everything on this stands out to me, there also isn't to much going on so it is very direct and to the point which I like.
Example 3
This was the last flyer that I really liked, the globe stands out to me which signifies people from al over the world. The repetition of the hands all over the poster and if you notice each hand is a different color, I actually think the color on the hands signify different countries flags which is really cool to me. I like how you have the words and symbol in the circles crossed out because that would make me more comfortable knowing all those things are not welcomed. Overall I think this is really neat poster with a lot of things signifying diversity, not just the big word that states diversity
Genre 3 - Professional Letter
For my third genre I chose to do a professional letter. I chose to do this because I felt it was the most effective way to be able to get my point across to people of a higher power. My professional letter is geared towards adult in power here at BU. I chose to do this because a professional letter is something a person in power would take seriously. It is not to busy, it is straight to the point, and it is well composed. I thought this letter really pinned all the points that I felt needed to be addressed.
Example 1
I chose this letter as an example because it would be a letter being sent home to a parent of a child. It is short ad sweet and to the point and because it is a letter for a child's parents about an activity that will be taking place in class the teacher put a picture on the paper to give a little insight on what the project will be about. This letter is a little less professional, but still straight forward and to the point
Example 2
The second example I chose was a profession a letter but this one is more geared to colleagues and not parents. As you can see this one is one goes in great depth by using bullet points about what they are really focusing on along with the paragraphs at the top. This letter gives the companies logo at the top and also signatures at the bottom.
Example 3
The third example I chose is a general letter, not as professional as the other one. It has a boarder around it and no signatures. It still is a straight forward and to the point just not as clean cut as the professional letter and not as relaxed at the letter sent home to a the child's parents.
